About me
Hi!
My name is Simona, and I am very happy that you have visited this virtual Lithuanian language learning space.
I want you to know that behind this screen there is not a robot, but a real person — a teacher who sincerely loves the Lithuanian language and shares it with children all over the world.
I was born and raised in Lithuania, and I studied Lithuanian Philology and Finnish at Vilnius University. I completed my internship at a Lithuanian heritage school in the USA, and later life led me to the land of trolls and fjords — Norway. I have been living here for several years now, as my husband is Norwegian.
In our home, two languages are constantly spoken: Lithuanian and Norwegian, so I truly understand how important the connection to one’s roots is, especially when growing up with two cultures. That is why, for the past five years, I have been teaching children online, helping them keep the Lithuanian language alive and close to their hearts.
I am now in my second year of master’s studies at Kaunas University of Technology, deepening my knowledge of information technologies for distance learning. My goal is to create a modern, convenient, and engaging learning environment where children can learn Lithuanian in a way that is clear, accessible, and appealing to them.
I believe that language is not just words. It is a connection to one’s roots, culture, and family.
